"Look to your health; and if you have it, praise God, and value it next to a good conscience." Izaak Walton

Shaping by Sherry was born out my belief that women and moms in particular put themselves last when it comes to carving out time for themselves. Believe me when I say I know this from first hand experience. I have two very active boys with my youngest having special needs. He was diagnosed with Angleman's Syndrome 7 years ago. He needs constant supervision as he does not understand danger and relies on me for his every need.
Out of necessity, my family's needs came first and mine always took a back seat. I carried on like this for several years. At times I would end up sleeping in my car in-between therapy sessions as I was constantly driving my son around for the best therapies and living on quick packaged meals.
I learned very quickly that this only left me feeling empty, exhaused and sadly...out of shape. My journey took a turn when I made a conscience decision to "let go" of the past. I could not get my old life back but I could embrace the life I now found myself in. As soon I made this "choice" my life began to have joy again.
Once that hurdle was crossed, I felt like I could breathe again. It was at this time that both my boys were in school full time and I was able to stand back and take a long look in the mirror. I discovered that I was no longer who I used to be. I had lost myself in my "mom role" and no longer resembled that vibrant, confident, fun loving person I used to be.
I needed to find myself again and I decided to go back to what I used to love...fitness. I started working out again and slowly started to see glimpses of the woman I used to be. I only worked out at home and only when I could work it around being a room mom, a cub scout mommy and a PTO volunteer. Once I started seeing results... I was hooked. Nothing makes me feel more alive and in control of my life than taking the time to work on me.
Please take the time to work on you too. Can you carve out two hours a week? Believe it or not, that's all it takes!

85% of women stay they have let themselves go...100% can get themselves back!
I hope my story in some small way inspires you to be the best you can be. We all have stories to tell and difficult times to bear, but through faith and fitness I promise... you can find joy again as well as yourself along the way.
This is your life...are you who you want to be?
